Leonard Kirwa Kosencha produced an enormous quality 800m performance where after leading from start to finish he motored to the fastest ever time ever run by a youth of 1:44.08 at the 7th IAAF World Youth Championships in Lille on Saturday (9) night.

There was a dramatic finish to the 10,000m Race Walk when the fourth day's action at the IAAF World Youth Championships in Lille got underway on a cool and damp French morning (9).

Pasztor breaks championship hammer record three times

In the field Bence Pasztor produced a magnificent series of throws to win Hungary's first gold medal at the Championships with a Championship record of 82.60m.

Tomorrow morning's semi finals should give a better indication of the likely medallists although Hailey both on paper and her latest performance will start favourite.

Only seven athletes have managed to strike gold at the World Youth, World Junior, and then later, the IAAF World Championships. Shaunae Miller will be taking her next steep to join that illustrious club when the opening round of the girls' 400m gets underway tomorrow (Wed 7) morning on the opening day of the 7th IAAF World Youth Championships.

Amy Weissenbach, the world leader at 800m, feels no real pressure that she will line up as favourite for the gold medal at the 7th IAAF World Youth Championships which take place in Lille (6-10 July).
